Before enacting seal assembly, you need to first lubricate the sleeve or shaft lightly. Use a silicon lubricant for this task. At all costs, you should avoid using oil on any seal faces. It is best to leave them alone, so don’t try to disassemble the unit.
Where flexibly mounted inserts are being used, it is important to ensure that they are lightly lubricated with oil and pressed in lightly. O-rings, on the other hand, should be mounted on the back shoulder by being pressed into the gland-cavity.
